Bruno Kny, born 1903 in Steinschoenau, Sudetenland started his career in his homecountry as the manager of the largest chandelier company in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. After fleeing from Sudetenland he came to Upper Austria and was able to gain a foothold here very soon. At first he was employed in a company as the head of the chandelier production department. Later he was appointed plant manager.
In 1956, Bruno Kny, together with his son Gerold Kny, founded the company Kny & Son in Ramingdorf.
Currently, the company in third generation, has Harald Kny at the helm, grandson of the founder. He was appointed managing director in 1989.
At the beginning the focus was laying on living room lighting, particularly on Maria-Theresia chandeliers.
Today the program has a much wider spectrum. Now we offer master plans for mansions, hotels, restaurants, ships and public buildings. Our production and supply capabilities include high quality furniture, decorative lighting for indoor and outdoor use and ornate metal and glass for interior and exterior architecture.

We have created new quality and standards in our field of activity and have included it in the design of chandeliers and lighting systems and even metal and glass structures. Our highest goal is to satisfy customers, designers and architects and, of course, to provide special and unique works with high standards. We are always moving with the times!

Having knowledge and experience in this art, along with new achievements in technology and techniques, helps to understand and create our unique and high-quality products that satisfy a variety of tastes. We place great emphasis on details right from the beginning and from the design stage. During casting and even during the finishing of the decorations, all details are controlled with great precision. In the casting part, a special alloy containing silver is used, and pure brass is used for the band, ring, lamp bracket, etc.
All our power cables are silicone coated and sheathed and designed and manufactured for continuous temperatures up to 180°C. The lamp holders and screw heads are made of the finest ceramic. The entire main structure of the chandelier is designed and manufactured entirely of stainless steel. In addition to the high value of using high-quality crystals, we use only the best crystals from Swarovski (Austria) whenever possible.
Our crystals are designed and cut by the company’s design team to the highest possible quality and produced and presented by Swarovski.
